“Back to the Roots” with Justin Sommer & Sami Harithi

If I were to ask you about the name of this guy from Berlin, who was a prodigy, one of a kind of his generation, a guy who caused a stir in big competitions and scored a spot on a big US board brand, your answer would highly depend on your own age. If you were around already in the early ‘90s, you might say, “Sure thing, you’re talking about Sami Harithi!” But if you’re part of the younger generation or maybe started skateboarding just a few years ago, your answer would probably be like, “Yo, that’s my man, Justin Sommer!” …and you know what? Both answers are right. Sami as well as Justin were already incredibly good at an early age and followed their own path that made them known far beyond the borders of Germany. The only factor that distinguishes their two careers is the factor of time. While Sami was already starting to get recognition in 1990, Justin’s era began about a quarter of a century later – but that’s about it. And since age is just a number, they naturally became friends. They enjoy hanging out and skating together and that vibe is exactly what we wanted to cover.
