I think this one was a success because so many skaters are living or have lived in Barcelona, but also every non skater from Barcelona knows one of us who’s been living like this. It definitely reached a point where many non skaters could get the joke.
This one is really personal because I can recall many drunk times explaining the whole Suciu AB-BA thing to non skaters. Some of them got it and it was really dope sharing my love for skateboarding with them. I also try to build my own skating in a similar way. I really am that guy in the picture, except I did go to uni.
I got a soft spot for Aurelien Giraud. Imagine telling people 20 years ago that some French dude who mostly skate parks is pro for Plan B. This right now is giving me an idea for a meme haha.
@_open.sesamemes_ !! You can tell he’s got a very solid skate culture and he’s super creative. Love his content.
I am the GrindQueen, also known as the King of Grinds. I hail from the land of granite ledges and kinked prefab flatbars. I started a meme page about trucks because I was bored of seeing everyone at the park riding indy trucks and wanted to remind them of nostalgic velvet truck hangars, OG tensor baseplates, and of course the elusive down low kingpin that is finally making a comeback.
Some of them can, Shout out to pizza skateboards for not having a clue to what was going on between me and frontlipbigspin but they understand the power of social media marketing and creating a fun story for the people. Shout out to pizza for getting the joke. Can't believe I actually got a flat bar from element out of this hah.
Yea most of them do, nothing cooler than being able to make Ryan Gallant and Caswell Berry laugh. I'm 30 years old and have been skating since 1999. Still two of my favorite skaters to this day. CCS is always down to reshare the images I post of the greatest mail-order of all time. Glad I saved all those.
Matt Tomasello. The wizard of skateboarding also has a sense of humor. And for that I say Shalom Matt
I've been running this page since march 2019 and since then independent has already removed the logo off their baseplate. I like to criticize how seriously everyone takes skating. Like you know how much impact feedback_ts had on these kids? now we have 15 year olds that are too worried about doing illegal tricks than having fun. If you're taking yourself too seriously you've already lost. go nollie smith, do a pressure flip and quit looking at your phone when you're out on the sesh with your friends. and if you're rocking headphones on the sesh don't even talk to me.
It can't be forced, you have to let the thoughts flow naturally, sometimes with the help of a couple of bong rips. I'm not worried about pumping out a meme everyday, if it is a meme it has to make me personally laugh out loud, if I don't think its funny it doesn't get posted. Some of my jokes are really niche and sometimes I might make a joke for just one person. All my jokes I think of and try to make sure other skate meme pages haven't already covered that topic. I like to keep it fresh. If its a skate clip I'm posting its usually involving nostalgia of some sort, like ipath cats or an Osiris G bag.
I live in a skate house with some pretty eccentric dudes and I draw inspiration from getting out and skating with different types of people and skating at different places. Just hit blue park for 2 hours and I had to jot down some notes for jokes cause sometimes I forget it haha. I have an insane collection of skate videos and magazines from 1999-2007 which is right before the world pretty much went digital and there's so much quality content I still have yet to cover. I play thps2 on my playstation 2 everyday. my life is a meme.
All of the memes I create tie into my actual life. If its windy outside and a joke comes to me; we got a joke about how skaters hate wind. If the homie is charging me for grip boom I'm making a meme about paying for grip. So it's just whatever comes to mind. I like to keep it sporadic cause you never know if my next post if going to be a smith bail, a meme about mike vallely or something about trucks.
The series of memes between myself and frontlipbigspin when we linked up to play a game of skate on the element flatbar. Or anything about mike v on my page.
I created the mold for the grindqueen truck model which included very prominent pieces of certain truck models throughout the years. Because everyone deserves to skate the perfect set of trucks.
Terry Kennedy. Shalom
Im going to give a major shalom to everyone in the council (the only meme pages that are OG shalom mafia) but OpenSesamemes really is the don of the game behind big bro Weck. Shalom SoloMag and thanks for the interview.

We’re four admins with zero brain cells in Brooklyn, NY. And we started Verifried because skateboarding is a total joke. 😉
No one has gotten too heated, but we will say this: if you get mad, the joke only gets funnier.
Definitely. One time we made a 30-person groupchat with all the SOTY contenders, and a bunch of them responded. (It’s still on our page as a highlight.) Think about how weird that is. We follow professional athletes who are happy to engage with their fans directly on social media. Does that happen in basketball? Football? Baseball? No.
To be honest… we fan out on all our followers 😭 #simpingainteasy
Skateboarding is a beautifully flawed, deeply peculiar, and occasionally problematic thing which is constantly reinventing and iterating upon itself, becoming both simultaneously cooler and dorkier with every passing second. What would we change? Nothing. Are you kidding me? These jokes basically write themselves right now lmao
When you see something dumb, say something dumber.
People like to participate. Formats they can jump in on, surveys, caption contests, etc—that makes content relatable. Also, everyone loves a good NBD. If you come up with an idea that’s never been done – DROP IT!
The Straight to Jail Series, The SOTY Contender Groupchat, If Strobeck Filmed The 900, Fully Flared Gender Reveal…
“Fuck it… deep dish griptape” is one of our oldest pieces and is probably the most fried idea ever. We have a lot of old ones that people haven’t seen from when like 10 people followed us… go get some.
Us.
In the skate meme game, Jamal Smith is the one true godfather. Pay respect to the man. Shalom. Verifried, out.
"1. Will a skater get this? 2. Is it cooked? 3. Fuck it, post it anyway"

Most of my followers assume I’m American. I’m European though. I was working in the skateboarding industry from the age of 17 to 30. Had enough of it and found a “real” job outside skating. Then I guess I missed it a lil bit and started this bullshit page because my inner teenager wanted to reminisce and joke about our lives as skaters.
I know that Brandon Biebel cannot take a joke – at all. I never made a joke on him though – he’s doing fine by himself. I don’t recall getting angry messages directly from people that I messed with. But some followers been offended a few times – often because they misunderstand the meme or my humor.
Andrew Allen, Appleyard, Mason Silva, Alex Chalmers, John Shanahan, Andrew Brophy all had a laugh over some shit I made about them. I was never mean to them – maybe Brophy a little bit but he laughed it off.

motherfuckin JAKE RUPP!
Switch frontside bigspins.
It’s the go-to trick for people who can’t do any other switch tricks. They don’t require any switch skills to learn. And that is funny because it’s true.
No of course not. I never tried one.
When you can address something that your audience can relate to in a funny way. Doesn’t have to be negative. Maybe just bring some lame shit up we all did years ago but have forgotten about. And I think the best memes are those where you don’t need words. No words on the photo and no caption. If you make something funny without saying anything you’ve done a good job.
I often just see a regular non-skate meme and I remake it with some random skate related shit. It’s not very hard at all!
The one where I spit the truth about professional skaters nowadays. They’re not street and RAW anymore. It’s all coconut water and Instagram giveaways.

The less you know the better.
Ha. Most people irl can’t take a joke when they feel personally attacked. Put them behind an IG url and a tiny phone screen—it’s even worse. With every meme I make, I get 99+ unread angry DM problems, but responding to them ain’t one. The ones who can take a joke tho. Those are my followers. People with a sense of humor, able to laugh at themselves.
I won’t namedrop here. But yeah. Well known/pros (and their fathers) have been in my DMs. I’ve already said too much. But yeah. More than I ever expected. The only pro I ever reached out to hoping for a response from was Ali Boulala. I’d be ok being left on seen, but he never even read it.
I would say who...but I’m trying to play it cool by pretending I don’t notice they follow me. Next question?
What gets criticized in skating is bullshit imho. The reason someone picks up a board and decides to ride should never be in question. But, I like to stir the pot with my opinions about brands, and how I prefer a well-executed wallride to a perfectly-timed laser flip, any day. Though, I counter that shit with recognizing some really badass skaters. With that said, nothing should change. Do what you love. Preference, opinion, or criticism should never deter someone from trying to land a laser flip, even though they are wack as fuck.
If you make yourself laugh when you think of it, make it. Fuck the rest.
I’m a writer. Lucky/cursed enough to do it for a living/for fun. Naturally, just fucked with ideas swirling in my brain. Unresolved trauma paired with in-the-moment bullshit (specifically unrequited skater romances) is what makes this lil brain go off on memes.
The ones you don’t think twice about? Initially, I made this off-the-radar meme page to have a creative outlet, posting bullshit, trying to get over an ex. Somehow people found solace in my unconventional recovery process and followed me, while laughing with me, or at me? I don’t fucking know. Did I just answer your first question? Shit.
Not sure.
Every meme featuring half cabs.
Oh my god. This goes without saying. I hope. But I won’t be the first one to acknowledge it.
Follow me. You’ll see the other worthwhile skate meme pages trolling my comments section.
