”North Hollywood“ is directed by Mikey Alfred from Illegal Civ, so it comes from within skateboarding and is kind of about Mikey’s relationship to his own father. The story is told quickly: Michael (played by Ryder McLaughlin) is a High School graduate and wants to become a professional skateboarder. Of course his father has different plans and there are also problems emerging with his homies he normally skates with (one of them called Adolf for whatever reason). But well, nobody is expecting an Inception plot from a skateboard movie. You want to see some coming of age stuff with fun dialogues and cameos by pro skaters and that’s what you get. You have legends like Andrew Reynolds, Jason Dill or P-Rod appearing, you have Bobby Worrest in there as well as Tyshawn, and for sure you have some Illegal Civ guys like Gary Rogers or Kevin White (who we had in our recent issue with an interview). So everything is set up for a fun watch.
