While early birds already book their two weeks of summer holidays at the beginning of January and would love to reserve their beach chairs likewise, other trips happen a bit more spontaneously. In the course of the Berlin Open, during the public screening of the finals of the European Football Championship – everybody already was a bit tipsy – Denny Pham introduced the filmer Bryan Callaghan to Nike marketing manager Colin Kennedy and one of the first things Colin said was: “Why don’t you guys do a trip to Sicily?” Denny and Bryan were surprised for a second, but then it was a done deal. And because Kilian Zehnder was accidently sitting next to them, there was no escape for him either. Eventually, Farid Ulrich, Niilo Nikkanen, and photographer Biemer got on board as well and the tour was ready to start.
“They can do anything in Baden-Württemberg”, a slogan of the state located in the southwest of Germany promises, “except speaking Standard German.” Although we lack the ambition to completely verify this claim, this allrounder mentality is totally spot-on regarding Own. As the name already implicates, everything is DIY – even or rather especially the boards.

Photographer Florian Hopfensperger was toying with the idea of escaping winter through a visit to California for quite a while now. The idea was to meet some friends that he usually only gets to see on different trips all over the world and to skate all the famous spots, of course. During last year’s pre-Christmas season, a pretty ragtag crew got together in order to lodge in Andrea DoSouto’s L.A. apartment and constantly hit the streets for four weeks.
