In May 2019, Ben Raemers, for most of us completely surprising, took his own life at the age of 28. A foundation has now been established to help avert such suicides in the future and to be a point of contact for mental illnesses.
The Ben Reamers Foundation wants to draw more attention to mental illness and create awareness, which helps to reduce stigmas and prepares the way for them to be seen as what they are: normal illnesses.
It is more than necessary that something finally changes in this direction and that affected people do not have to be ashamed to speak openly about their problems or to get professional help. That goes also or even more out to people, which are not affected by psychological illnesses themselves. Keep your eyes and ears open in your circle of friends and have the courage to not only talk about kickflips with the people who are important to you. Everyone can do something to make other people feel better.
And to support just that, the Ben Raemers Foundation has been founded, but there are also many others where you can get advice in such cases:
